I am showing this page on the JOHN COCKE family because of the parallel's
between him CHARLES COCKE, and JESTER COCKE of Virginia.
You can't read this and not know that they were all three related, however
proof of this connection has eluded most of us at this time, but maybe
someday someone will find it.
I appears that between 1795 & 1800 was when most of these Cox's left Lee Co. Va.
John Cocke and Mary Everett, his wife, sold, 11 Sept. 1797, a tract of
200 acres for 130 pounds, to James Fulkerson.
Lee Co. Va. (1-98)
Generation No. 1
Notes for JOHN COCKE:
John Cocke is approximately the same age as Jester Cocke Jr. (b. 1772) and was in
my opinion either a brother or first cousin..
The family names of John & Mary are identical to the children of Jester Sr. Jester Jr. and Charles Cocke of Lee Co. Va.
The order of birth and ages of the children of John and Mary Cocke is not certain, but is loosely based on wills and census data which has many conflicts.....
This family for whatever reason did'nt live long as most died before 50...
Notes for MARY E. ???:
Mary A. & Mary E. are both used....
Shown as Mary E. age 75 on the 1850 Census of Madison Co. AL., John & Mary were probably married in Virginia where both were born, they were in Ky. in 1805, and
in TN. by 1810.
